Cayman Enterprise City Leads Blockchain Conversation

Special Economic Zone successfully hosts 2nd cryptocurrency conference of the year

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (18 May 2018) – Cayman Enterprise City (CEC) is marking the success of the zone’s second major event in 2018 to bring cryptocurrency and blockchain leaders, who are guiding a surging industry, to the Cayman Islands to showcase the jurisdiction’s benefits and attractions.

This month Cayman Tech City, a development project by CEC and an industry partner member of the “World Tokenomic Forum” (, welcomed more than 100 world leaders in cryptocurrency, government, capital markets, and technology to the World Tokenomic Forum’s Annual Summit. The event took place at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort 8-10 May 2018 and concluded with the finals of the Sandcastle Startups Challenge.

Walker Willse has been living and working in the Cayman Islands since September 2017. As Vice-President of Business Development, Walker led efforts to raise Kowala's initial seed round, and is currently running the sales office and developing strategic partnerships within the greater Cryptocurrency and Blockchain ecosystem. When not working, Walker spends time with his family and sneaks in some fishing when the opportunity arises.

As Cayman Enterprise City Grows, So Does Cayman’s Local Economy

Cayman Enterprise City (CEC) and the special economic zones (SEZs) continue to significantly impact the Cayman Islands’ economy. To date the development project has contributed an estimated US $155.16 million to Cayman’s economy ($113.01 million in direct spending and $42.15 million indirectly). Last year alone CEC contributed an estimated US $41.56 million. The 2017 figures reflect a 9.4% increase over 2016’s $37.6 million. The announcement, in keeping with a commitment CEC made in its first year to disclose its local economic impact annually, is the latest report of seven — the first released in 2011.

Dozens of students expressed interest in learning to code when they stopped by the Cayman Enterprise City (CEC) booth at the Chamber of Commerce Career’s Expo on Friday, 23 February. CEC Marketing Manager, Kaitlyn Elphinstone and zone entrepreneur of Spark Limited, Mark Hall were on hand to give out information about CEC and talk about opportunities being developed in Cayman’s special economic zones.
