100WF Partners with CEC to Launch Youth Code Club

100 Women in Finance (100WF) alongside Enterprise Cayman a non-profit workforce development initiative by Cayman Enterprise City (CEC) recently joined forces to close the gender gap in technology and introduce mentees in GirlForce 100 to programming careers. The “100WF CEC Code Club”, is a non-profit workforce development initiative by 100WF and Enterprise Cayman, designed to deliver a series of training courses focusing on computer science, technology and introducing the mentees to skills they can apply in a variety of careers.

A pilot group of fourteen mentees from GirlForce 100 recently attended a launch session where they learned beginner-friendly software development and were provided with an opportunity to network with other likeminded young women.

“Through our not-for-profit Enterprise Cayman initiative, we seek to provide high-quality learning experiences and opportunities for all to pursue careers in the technology and innovation sectors. We’re thrilled to be partnered with 100WF in sponsoring the GirlForce 100 Code Club and a group of 14 young women through Code Fellows’ Code 101 programme. It is very important to us to be part of Cayman’s effort to deliver the right support and encouragement to those that aspire to become active members of our ever-evolving global digital economy.” said Charlie Kirkconnell, CEO Cayman Enterprise City.

“We are extremely grateful for the contribution made by Enterprise Cayman. The relationship between 100WF and CEC is invaluable as the Cayman Islands technology sector continues to evolve and provide future opportunities for young Caymanians. I would like to sincerely thank CEC for recognizing this opportunity and helping us to support our youth as we move toward a new digital age.” said Christina Bodden, Maples Group Partner and Board Member of 100 Women in Finance.
