How it Works
CEC's expedited business licensing regime can have companies fully established within 4–6 weeks.
Cayman Enterprise City offers renewable five-year work/residency visas for staff which can be processed in as little as five days. A minimum capital investment is not required and permits, visas, trade certificates, and turn-key office solutions are conveniently bundled into streamlined serviced packages.
As soon as your application is approved, you will become the owner and operator of your own Special Economic Zone Company (SEZC).
After your business has established a physical presence, our team remains in a supportive role and is in constant contact to help companies thrive. Packages are fully scalable, which means staff and office space can be added at any time without limitations or penalty fees.

From Application to Operation in Five Steps
1. Evaluate Fit
The first step is to understand your planned business activities and determine whether your company is eligible to operate within the Cayman Islands Special Economic Zone.
You will be introduced to a member of CEC’s Global Mobility team, who will discuss your objectives, explain the benefits of establishing a genuine physical presence in the Cayman Islands, and guide you through the application process. We will also work with you to understand your Cayman-based staffing plans, workspace and technology requirements, and plans for future growth.
Once you have decided to proceed, your CEC contact can introduce you to local corporate service providers, law firms, banks, real estate professionals, and other relevant business contacts as required. You will also be set up in CEC’s online portal, which will help guide you through the business licensing and employment certificate application process.
At this stage, you may also wish to visit Cayman, tour CEC’s facilities, meet existing community members, learn more about our business ecosystem and workforce development initiatives, and explore your options for long-term growth.
2. Incorporate your Cayman Company
Your Cayman Islands Special Economic Zone Company can be incorporated through a local attorney or corporate services provider. You may already have a preferred provider, or CEC can make introductions to firms across the Cayman Islands.
While your company is being incorporated, CEC’s Global Mobility team will work with you in parallel to prepare the documentation required for your Zone Trade Certificate (ZTC) and, where applicable, Zone Employment Certificate (ZEC) applications.
During this stage, CEC will also confirm key details relating to your Special Economic Zone business, including your company name, registered office address, chosen workspace solution, agreement term, and intended start date.
You will then be able to review and approve your CEC Licence Agreement through our online portal and receive the information required to prepare for onboarding.
3. Obtain Your Business Licence
Once your SEZC has been incorporated and the required application documentation has been completed, CEC’s Global Mobility team will prepare and file your Zone Trade Certificate application with the Cayman Islands Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA).
The Zone Trade Certificate is the business licence that enables your SEZC to conduct its approved activities within the Cayman Islands Special Economic Zone.
CEC will assist with preparing the application, gathering the required due diligence documentation, reviewing the submission, and filing it on your behalf.
Zone Trade Certificate applications are typically processed within approximately 7–10 business days once submitted to SEZA.
4. Obtain Employment Certificates
Once your Zone Trade Certificate has been approved, CEC can submit Zone Employment Certificate applications for eligible Cayman-based team members.
Zone Employment Certificates enable approved team members to work within your Special Economic Zone business in the Cayman Islands.
CEC’s Global Mobility team will guide you through the required documentation and application process and will remain available throughout to help your relocation proceed as efficiently as possible.
Zone Employment Certificate applications are generally processed within approximately 7–10 business days.
From start to finish, the complete Special Economic Zone setup process typically takes approximately 4–6 weeks.
5. Move In. Plug In. Join the Community.
With the necessary approvals in place, it’s time to welcome you to Cayman Enterprise City.
Throughout the application process, our team will work with you to prepare your chosen workspace so you can begin operating as soon as you arrive.
CEC’s serviced offices are fully furnished and designed to make establishing your Cayman Islands presence simple and efficient.
Your first day will include an onboarding session led by our Client Experience team. You’ll meet your dedicated CEC contact, get acquainted with your workspace and the wider CEC campus, gain access to our community resources, and be introduced to the networking, business development, and community programmes most relevant to you and your team.
From there, CEC remains a long-term partner as your Cayman Islands presence grows.

What does SEZC mean?
Each company registered in Cayman Enterprise City’s special economic zone is required to include this designation, as in for example “ABC Trading SEZC”.
The letters ‘SEZC’ in your company’s name designate it as a ‘Special Economic Zone Company’.
The SEZC designation confirms that your company has been established to operate within Cayman’s Special Economic Zone framework, has completed the relevant licensing and due diligence requirements, maintains a genuine physical presence within Cayman Enterprise City, and operates under the oversight of the Cayman Islands Government’s Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA).
For globally focused businesses, the designation provides a clear connection to Cayman’s established Special Economic Zone framework and the internationally recognised business ecosystem operated by Cayman Enterprise City.
