George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (12 October 2017) – In recognition of the key role youth plays towards charting Cayman’s course into the future, the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) partnered with CEC to host a STEM Summer camp this August. The camp was for students between the ages of 14 - 16 and was designed to provide opportunities to engage in STEM-related activities, connect with like-minded individuals and learn about current trends in STEM fields as well as interact with some local and international STEM experts and explore future career possibilities. There was an action-packed agenda which included App development, coding, robotics, astronomy, math, chemistry and environmental science, and attendees experienced an incredible three days.

Both CEC and UCCI would like to heartily thank Maples Technology SEZC, a rapidly growing Zone company, which generously donated computer programming staff to teach the students the basics of coding and App development during the camp. The volunteers who were highly skilled computer engineers and programmers, inspired the young people to seriously think about careers in that field.

UCCI and CEC have a long-standing partnership and CEC was happy to sponsor the camp which was another step towards developing a local pool of talented, tech-savvy young Caymanians to fill forecasted technology related jobs in the Zone.
