From New Member to Preferred Partner

ShoreLabs’ First Six Months in Cayman’s Special Economic Zone

When Anna and Ralph Muheim relocated from Switzerland to the Cayman Islands to establish ShoreLabs SEZC, the move was intended as more than a change in geography. It was a strategic decision to build from within a jurisdiction they believed was increasingly positioning itself as a serious hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and emerging technologies.

Just six months after establishing within Cayman Enterprise City’s (CEC) Special Economic Zone (SEZ), ShoreLabs has already become an active part of the local business community and was recently appointed as a CEC Preferred Service Partner.

For the ShoreLabs team, the appeal of Cayman came down to a combination of factors: a business-friendly environment, proximity to key markets across the Americas, a growing network of internationally focused companies, and the ability to build within a collaborative ecosystem.

“We didn’t come here to observe. We came to build, and to help others build. CEC gave us the infrastructure and community to do that from day one.”
— Anna Muheim, CEO of ShoreLabs SEZC

Within months of arriving, the company had established operations within the zone, made its first local hire, and begun building relationships across Cayman’s business and technology sectors.

Building Companies from Within the Ecosystem

ShoreLabs describes itself as a boutique venture studio and strategic partner supporting founders and growth-stage companies operating across technology, digital assets, AI, and emerging industries.

Rather than functioning solely as a traditional incubator or development agency, the company works closely with ventures across multiple stages of growth, supporting areas such as product strategy, branding, software development, operational setup, compliance, and go-to-market execution.

The company’s international footprint includes headquarters in the Cayman Islands, alongside delivery nodes in Zug, Berlin, El Salvador, and Sweden, supported by a broader global development network.

According to the ShoreLabs team, one of the advantages of operating from Cayman has been the ability to combine international reach with a highly connected local ecosystem.

“Working with a development partner too often feels like adding another layer of complexity. We aim to work alongside founders as part of the team, helping them move from concept to execution in a practical and collaborative way.”
— Ralph Muheim, COO of ShoreLabs SEZC

That collaborative approach extends beyond product development. The company has also focused on building relationships with service providers, operators, and entrepreneurs both within CEC and across the wider Cayman business community.

The ShoreLabs Harbour

As part of its broader model, ShoreLabs has also developed what it refers to as the “ShoreLabs Harbour,” a curated network of specialised partners intended to support ventures as they scale.

The concept is designed around a practical challenge many founders face: building a company often requires access to expertise far beyond product development alone. Legal structuring, communications, regulatory guidance, cyber security, tokenomics, insurance, and intellectual property support can all become critical as businesses grow.

Rather than requiring founders to source these independently, ShoreLabs aims to connect companies with a trusted network of partners and advisors already familiar with operating in fast-moving and highly regulated sectors.

Growing Within Cayman Enterprise City’s SEZ

ShoreLabs’ appointment as a Preferred Service Partner reflects how quickly the company has integrated into the broader CEC ecosystem.

For CEC members and companies establishing within the SEZ, ShoreLabs now forms part of a growing network of service providers supporting businesses as they scale from Cayman.

The progression from new zone company to ecosystem partner in under a year also reflects a broader trend within Cayman’s innovation sector, where internationally focused businesses are increasingly choosing to establish genuine operational presences within the jurisdiction.

“This is our home now, and we want to be part of building something lasting here, not just for ShoreLabs, but for the wider ecosystem as well.”
— Anna Muheim, CEO of ShoreLabs SEZC

Looking Ahead

As ShoreLabs continues to expand its presence in Cayman, the team remains focused on supporting founders and companies building internationally from within the jurisdiction.

At the same time, the company sees significant long-term opportunity in Cayman’s continued growth as a centre for technology, digital assets, AI, and innovation-focused businesses.

For Cayman Enterprise City, stories like ShoreLabs highlight the role the SEZ ecosystem can play in attracting internationally connected companies that actively contribute to the broader business community while building globally from Cayman.
